September is less than 2 months away so… TVD SEASON 2 NEWS AND SPOILERS!

I looked at a calendar and realized that September is less than TWO months away. That’s right, in no time The Vampire Diaries will be back for our viewing pleasure with new episodes. In case you haven’t seen the date floating around on various sites, CW announced that Thursday, September 9th is the official return!

I know that everyone is anxiously awaiting the return and trolling for news so I thought I would put up some of the new goodies that have been given to us. Not a whole lot has been released that’s absolutely NEW but I did manage to find some. I figured it would be easier to see it all in one place than search the web so here you go…. Look forward to a few more Season 2 leaks and sneak peaks as September gets even close but don’t hold out for too many details. The producers of The Vampire Diaries have stated repeatedly that news won’t be abundant as they want the Season 1 cliffhangers and Season 2 reveals to come at us in a big and surprising way. Eh I don’t know how surprising they can be because to some of the HIGHER UPS the werewolf storyline was supposed to be a big shocker for all and well…. spoiler and shocker FAIL lol.

Clevver TV gave a brief look at what to expect from Season 2:

KATHERINE – Hate her or love her, she’s a character everyone is anticipating and I personally can’t wait to see the fallout from her return. Oh it’s going to be so bad and so very good.

“I can’t talk much about it yet,” says executive producer Julie Plec, “but one of the big surprises is that Katherine comes face to face with Elena.”

I’m looking forward to Nina Dobrev playing both Elena and Katherine and HOPE that they won’t drag out their first meeting. Dare I hope maybe in the first or second episode? It looks like Nina isn’t the only one who will be dealing with the portrayal of two characters. Damon who was very recently grieving over his loss of Katherine is going to have to deal with her arrival and the effects she will have on his personality. Here’s to hoping that she doesn’t do too much damage to the new Damon Elena has helped to emerge.

“It’s going to be an emotional rollercoaster for me,” Ian predicts. “Damon, with Katherine, is this youthful wide-eyed fun guy who is so intrigued by her — so different from the maniacal, more mature Damon you see with Elena.”
(source:TV Gude)

Ian when asked about Katherine over at E!Online stated:
“She’s probably going to kick my ass. Katherine is an evil bitch. She’s a narcissistic, crazy bitch.”

Got that? Katherine is a crazy evil bitch. You know, just in case there are still some people out there that might think everyone is mistaken or that really she’s just some poor misunderstood girl/vampire. I might be a little biased because I’ve read the books and well her return… the girl had lost her mind and wanted revenge for some asinine reason and basically because she couldn’t get her way. I’ve said it before and I will say it again, don’t get your hopes up with expecting ANYTHING good from her.

The Salvatore brothers – The return of Katherine means things will without a doubt be changing for both Stefan and Damon. It’s been said that Stefan doesn’t handle Katherine returning as well as Damon and that the roles get a little mixed up with the brothers. Paul Wesley on his role in Season 2:

“He is always going to be protective of Elena, but there are times that he is going to be tempted by blood,” Paul dishes. “He’s a vampire and he has malice inside him. I think it would be a mistake to ignore that.”

When asked about the possible role switch up, Paul replied with:

“I think depending on the situation and the circumstance that it can happen. Damon will be nicer and Stefan more violent and then they will switch again…If Stefan loses Elena, even for a moment, he loves her and I think he could do anything.”

(source:E!ONLINE)

If Stefan loses Elena? Just what might be happening that he would think that Stefan could lose Elena? Does something happen with their relationship like some Damon interference?? (I know, I just want some results from the porch kiss whether Elena is aware of it or not and I can hope. I know they won’t be together – for now – but there is a connection and chemistry that can’t be denied.) Or – will we see the same (or similar) end result of Katherine returning for Elena like in the books?? The show has taken the major story points into the show so it’s always an option. Or – could it be something simpler like Stefan screwing things up because he never really dealt with Katherine being gone all those years ago. Remember, he is rumored to not handle her being back as well as many would think.

Is Uncle Johnathon REALLY dead?

While still on the subject of Katherine’s return (because just about everything is linked to her somehow, no?) – what will be the fate of Uncle Johnathon? We were left with Katherine cutting off his fingers, taking his death repelling ring, and then she savagely stabbed him. Now, normally you would just assume someone with those injuries and being minus a miracle ring would just plain die. Ah but if you did assume that you would be forgetting that this is a show with vampires, magical rings, witches, and werewolves. Anything can happen. Remember Logan? Everyone thought he was dead for a while until he came out all surprise I’ve been turned into a vampire.

EW’s Michael Ausiello who always knows the what’s what in television news answered a fan question about the fate of Uncle John.

Question: I heard a rumor that David Anders will be a regular next season on The Vampire Diaries. Please tell me that it’s true! —Addison
Ausiello: I would if I could, but I can’t. But here’s something I can confirm: Anders will definitely be in the season premiere.

Ok, so rumor has it that the show is going to start right where it left off with Uncle John in the kitchen wounded and Elena walking towards the kitchen. At the very least have one cliffhanger quickly answered in the first episode. And perhaps, Katherine is still in the kitchen when Elena goes in. Now that would be fun to see especially since Katherine has just maimed and possibly killed Elena’s Uncle/father and is wearing the EXACT SAME clothes as her . Wouldn’t Elena like to know what she was up to in those clothes… like with Damon – on the porch – after he put his heart out there – oh hell I hope I make it through the first episode because I know they are going to drag that secret out as long as possible just because they can.

New character Alert:
New IMPORTANT character coming to town by the name of Mason Lockwood. Maybe someone to teach Tyler what being a werewolf is all about?

Julie Plec who has been slowly letting out bits of information had this to say on the new character:
“Our big new addition is Mason Lockwood, the mayor’s much younger and cooler brother, who has been estranged from the family. His return introduces a lot of questions about what is so special about that creepy Lockwood family.”

So who is Tyler’s Uncle (that is sure to have some family baggage being estranged and all)? Actor Taylor Kinney is going o be the new wolf in town who incidentally is going to add to the eye candy factor on TVD.

Bonnie – Our blossoming little witch has found some backbone and isn’t backing down from anyone. She knows who she is and what she can do so you can be sure from this point on she will be in charge of her life and if messed with, a force to be reckoned with.

In an interview with POPWRAP (a part of the NY Post) Katerina Graham let everyone know what to expect from Bonnie Season 2.

PW: Does the first episode pick up right where we left off with Elena walking into the kitchen?
Kat: Yep [laughs], it’s pretty insane. And I will say that Bonnie is really, really tough in the first episode back. She is not playing around. Bonnie will eff you up if you mess with her! She is also going to have to deal with Katherine. And that’s a whole new beast. Literally.

PW: In the finale she made a very ominous threat to Stefan — will season two see her sticking to that?
Kat: Yea. She really means that – she’s not going to help them any more.

PW: And I would imagine her powers will only continue to grow?
Kat: Oh yea, she’s going to become even stronger. But it’s important she stay vulnerable too. You don’t want someone to raise hell with no motivation behind it. You can never forget the loss of a loved one and I don’t think she’ll ever get over losing her grams. That was her rock to this world. She wouldn’t do anything simply out of a hate for vampires. I don’t think she could ever justify that.

TVD “Fool Me Once” re-cap

This weeks episode starts out with Elena waking up on a bed in a hotel room. Turns out she is being held by Ben (the random new bartender at The Grill who Bonnie was crushing on). Oh, and he had absolutely no interest in Bonnie other than pleasing Anna who he thinks cares about him. Yeah Ben, you keep telling yourself that. You’re not a meaningless lackey at all she truly cares about the wonderful vampire that you are. Anyways, Elena tries to escape while Ben is asleep in a chair not far from the door. She gets to the door but before she can open it he vamp speeds over to her. Hey, she saw the chance and took it… it doesn’t matter that we all knew she wouldn’t make it – when you’re a hostage what the hell, go for it.

Ben the new vamp in town tries out a neat little trick Anna showed him. He tries to compel Elena and she plays along since he has no clue about the vervain. Smart move Elena. Ben turns his back since Elena is supposed to ’not move’ and she tries to get out again. Ah but then Anna comes in. Needless to say, Anna isn’t happy with Ben because he should have realized someone dating a vamp just might have vervain. Elena is put on lockdown in the bathroom where she discovers that Bonnie is in the bathtub unconscious.

TVD “You’re Undead to Me” re-cap

FINALY! She sees his face change… a person can only turn away so many times.

A quick rundown on this weeks episode:

Last week we were left with the cliff hanger of Damon locked in the boardinghouse cellar which is where we start off this week. It’s been three days and Damon is without his ring (so no sunlight for him), he has a decent amount of vervain in him, and he hasn’t fed. Stefan wants to reconnect with Elena who he hopes is welcoming. Elena has been wondering what the hell is wrong with Stefan that he’s been MIA for three days and she wants answers. Matt is left on the sidelines being a gentleman and giving advice to both Stefan and Elena. Caroline is trying to act like Damon never really happened but does a poor job of it and ends up under his spell once again. Bonnie is having some major inner conflict due to her newfound powers and ends up going to her grandmother. Jeremy and Vickie seem to be doing good together but it doesn’t last long because anything involving the words Vickie and good won’t last. We see the ominous crow pop up throughout the episode but sadly, it doesn’t end well for him. Stefan is ousted by a stranger who seems to know him and Elena is hungry for answers. She goes off to find them and is tremendously shocked when she puts the pieces together. She FINALY is ready to confront Stefan instead of making anymore excuses for all of the weird that has occurred. It just wouldn’t be right if we didn’t get more Damon so he gets freed but that won’t be good for everyone around him since he’s bound to be pissed . We end the show with One persons life ending and one persons fate being unknown. And all of that combined makes for the deliciousness that is The Vampire Diaries.

TVD “Family Ties” re-cap

This weeks The Vampire Diaries episode was “Family Ties”. Indeed it has a lot of family ties and even a major history repeating itself moment. The show starts off this time not with Damon on another murderous adventure (take note… you will see less of the bad like that from Damon but the bad that remains will be very WOW bad… for now anyways… just take note because there is a reason down the road.) Anyways, we see Elena waking up due to hearing a noise. She gets up and goes downstairs to see what it is when the television turns on. It shows a breaking news story reporting another death from an animal attack. The death is of none other than Elena… huh? she is obviously not dead. All of a sudden, Damon is inside and she is freaking out. She runs but he is everywhere she runs to (vampire speed) and then he’s gone. But of course when she turns around he’s there and he BITES her in a bad way. So your thinking WTF right… well then Stefan wakes up. It was all a bad dream that Damon put in Stefan’s head to screw with him. They have their usual banter between each other that ends in Stefan stabbing Damon with a letter opener and Damon returning the favor (note to self: never damage Damon‘s designer shirts). They are both vampires though and random non heart piercing stabs won’t do anything but annoy them. By the way, DAMON TELLS STEFAN HE WANTS MORE THAN IN ELENA’S HEAD during the convo.

At the Gilbert house, Jenna has the television on watching a real breaking news story that announces the vicious animal responsible for all of the attacks has been caught (Damon set it up). While watching this Jenna is throwing insults at the male reporter (Logan). Turns out he is the reason she left town originally. The jerk cheated on her. Elena is off gathering some family heirlooms to loan out for a famous town founders party. Jeremy protests and we later find out it’s because it’s his parents things and the watch (A POCKET WATCH) was promised to him by his father. The doorbell rings and it’s Stefan. Elena and Stefan go upstairs and start to makeout on her bed. Stefan’s face goes all bloodlusty so he pulls away pretty quickly. Elena asks him randomly after how he looks in a suit… yeah because someone looking like he does can’t possibly pull off a suit… please. He’s a little surprised that the founder’s party is still held (slip up on his part… he’s new and not really supposed to know that stuff). Elena tries to act like it’s whatever with her and she’s going because her mom loved going but she wants to go we can all see that and Stefan couldn’t be happier to go with her… uh-huh sure he loves bending over backwards trying to hide all of his not so little secrets.

Stefan how long do you think you can just keep turning your head? She’s going to notice eventually…

Vampire Diaries “Friday Night Bites” re-cap

Wasn’t feeling so great this week so no real recap… instead here are some of my thoughts on this episode:

I like how from the beginning Bonnie doesn’t like Stefan because her intuition is telling her there’s something off about him. Even if she doesn’t know what it is, she knows it isn‘t good. And the prediction of the numbers 8, 14, 22… This little witch is finding her powers whether she wants to or not. Also love how she sticks with Elena regardless of what is going on and is supportive of her unlike someone else who is really annoying at this point. That would be Caroline of course. In the beginning of this series, Caroline is so bubbly and fake cheery and that was all very present in this episode. Pay attention everyone because if they follow the books at all with her (even just a teeny tiny bit) this is a glimpse of the real Caroline. Poor girl though doesn’t even realize that she is just a toy to Damon. As she tries to show him off to Elena she has no clue that Elena is who he is really after. (That can be added to a pile of things that just might possibly lead to her going completely crazy at some point in the future.) Damon seems to have his eye on Elena throughout the episode and I have lost count on all of the “looks” that he gives her.

And so the "eye thing" really begins... lol we all know Elena notices, it just takes her awhile to acknowledge it.

There seems to be a lot going on in his head perhaps pertaining to his “master plan”. Stefan is not having the best of luck running interference but throwing in the vervain necklace he gave to Elena helps. I bet it isn’t too often that Damon gets slapped. He didn’t seem to mind Elena has some fire in her. If anything by the end of this one he seems even more fascinated by her. Standing over her bed and watching her sleep (stalkerish yes I know) he looked less like animal rage Damon and more like a Damon who cares about something. The way he was looking at her and gently stroking her cheek before disappearing makes it look like another Damon is hiding inside him and Elena is what’s bringing it out. I have to say at this point is when I would say he really starts to care a little about her as more than just another play thing. From one brother to the next, Stefan is having a harder time covering his vampire tracks. The finger breaking no one saw but the hand cut Elena clearly saw and she might act like she is going along with his story but is she really? She looks like that one is going to be at the back of her mind until something else happens to trigger it to the forefront of things. You can tell without ever seeing the series before that it is getting really close to the time for Stefan to spill his not so little secret. In the background of all of this, the minor characters Jeremy, Vickie, and Tyler are all still in their horrible triangle. Vickie as messed up as ever stands by while Tyler constantly goes after Jeremy. Jeremy is left on the sidelines falling apart. Thankfully though, Vickie finally does something good and tells Jeremy she didn’t have sex with him just for the drugs. The user has a heart somewhere in there under the screwed up mess that she is. Ah but it is still Vickie so the good will no doubt be followed by some bad soon enough. And then there is Matt. Matt is the not so lucky one watching all of this happen in front of him. Having to admit his sister is screwed up and awful to Jeremy, seeing his friend as the jerk he really is, watching his ex move on while he still loves her, and to top it all of he gets to see that the guy he wants to dislike so much isn’t so bad after all. With all of that and who knows what other shit he gets to deal with, Matt always ends up being a friend and a true gentleman in the end. I’ve never been big on Matt but seeing him now, I have to admit his character is pretty good. Now to see how he handles things the seasons to come and all of the secrets/drama they bring.

Cute moment but does Stefan really think that the necklace mojo will work forever?

Bottom line, this was another good episode as the series continues on. I am noticing a lot more things watching it a second time and now that I am paying more attention to the details perhaps some foreshadowing for the second season is present this early in the first. So many little details that can easily carry over to something much bigger next season. Looking at both Stefan and Damon now after seeing the whole first season it can be easier to see more of the big picture with them. You can see that Stefan is a bit unstable underneath and admits Katherine is still there in his heart/mind. Damon on the other hand, is growing in subtle ways towards giving a damn about someone else besides her – even moving away from Katherine though he is actually supposed to be trying to get her back. The brothers roles look like they are reversing in various aspects while they both end up yet again loving and wanting the same girl. The season 2 love “square” is looking more and more interesting.

Ok, so this was my favorite scene and not just because it was more Damon.  love how the episode ended with a glimpse at a possibly gentle and caring Damon… maybe somebody really isn’t as hard as he tries to come off… maybe that somebody is starting to care – perhaps to care about a certain ex-cheerleader.

Vampire Diaries “Pilot” re-air

Let me start off by saying WOW… it’s been awhile since I saw this episode originally air (hard to believe it’s been something like 8 months). I was pleasantly surprised seeing all of the little things I forgot and better yet all the little things that stand out to me now that I’ve seen the whole season play out. To say the least, I’m very glad they are re-airing the whole season again. I wonder what else will stand out or what other little details will catch my eye now that I’m watching the show with from a whole new perspective.

Random fav scene (glad this scene from the book was incorporated into the show!)

So, I started my review/recap… looked at it before I did any editing… then clicked delete… it ended up way to long…

The first show is always important in any series because it lays the foundation for the storylines and plots while trying to give you a good first look at all of the first essential characters. That ends up with a show crammed with a lot of little details to help the audience get a decent feel for each character. And that leaves me with a ridiculously long review so I changed my strategy. Much simpler and a link to the full detailed synopsis at the TVD Wiki…
